Kautekeino

the tooth came out this morning, its not something i would recommend as a holiday activity or a party game. the dentist was really kind though, and treated me for free - even paying for the drugs herself. i cant thank her enough

i have taken her advice and am resting for the day before going on tomorrow. the route for the next 100 km or so seems to be fairly simple, and if possible i am going to try and cover the distance to Alta in 48 hours. if i can sustain this kind of pace then i may be able to finish by the end of the month

Bet you never thought that you would include a visit to the dentist chair in your itinerary!
let’s hope there are no more similar surprises
50km a day for 2days sounds up to your standards
go for it and good luck

    Hi D
Fangs ain’t what they used to be! One does wonder about the wisdom of wisdom teeth? - better off without that particularly offending one and the way ahead is now hopefully plain and clear; no more injuries/afflictions, no more flat light, no more dodgy ice bridges, no more Madam Bongos, no more aches and pains (wishful thinking) …. just serendipity and silken sliding all the way.
    All love

    Hi D

Shame about Madame Bongo’s - never mind, you can ham it up a bit when you write the novel!! Your episode crossing the ice puts that awful bloke Bear Grylis or whoever he is, in the shade - well done you for your stamina and endurance, and the end is now in sight - take great care.

    David -
Loved reading your entry of 21st April - fantastic description and writing - you know you’ve easily got an adventure novel in you (when you’ve got that odd dull moment to fill!).
Sorry to hear about the tooth - try to retain all the remaining bits of you to the end now!
Anyway, we’re celebrating St George’s day with Spud tonight - he’s doing ‘le ros boeuf’, so there will be a glass raised to all those who take on and, we hope, conquer dragons!
May the pain and problems recede, and fun and inspiration increase from here on.
    Much love from us both
    Chris & Saija
