Finland/Norway
Dave set off early from Kilpisjarvi, having received his maps, just in time’ on the 18th April. That evening he staged at Kuonarjohka. On the 19th April, he completed his crossing of the Finnish Wedge and entered Norway, where he stayed the night in a hutte just inside Norway. Next morning, the 20 th April , he struck out for Madam Bongo’s Fjellstue, where he arrived about 5pm. Sadly it is not quite what he had hoped for, but , he has a roof over his head and food.

Hi D
Oh no! Disappointed to hear that Madam Bongo is not the exotic and colourful character many of us had envisioned but very good to hear that your maps arrived at le moment critique and you can hopefully progress as planned, no hiccups. Your online map looks impressive as the points north creep higher and higher. Downhill all the way? - I suspect not but the end IS in sight!
All love

I’m still intrigued as to what Madam Bongo’s actually is…. I was having some seriously good day dreams about that ; ) Really glad that Dave is making progress-nearly there! *woo*

but we haven’t heard Dave’s account of Madame Bongo’s
is there some sort of cover up going on here - to preserve the secrets of the north
I remain unconvinced that Dave was offered merely food and a roof over his head

David -
Saija was very excited that you spent my birthday in Finland, and that you appear to have been well looked after there.
A shame that Madame Bongo is evidently a bit past it - but are there not some of her employees a little less aged and rather more agile (e’en if not nubile)?
Glad the maps arrived - see what else you can find, and have fun. You are continuing to make excellent progress. Well Done. And brilliant describing of the flat whiteness - gripping stuff.
Much love
Chris & Saija

Hi Dave,
According to the map you are heading the wrong way! You gotta turn left pretty soon! Don’t know if you were aware, but Kautekano is normally the coldest place in Norway so I shouldn’t stay there too long - madam Bongo or not! By the way I’ve found out what all those noises were you heard in the mountains about a week ago. Keep at it your’e nearly there.
